Atheros Communications Inc. AR242x 802.11abg Wireless PCI

Hallo,

"
ath5k_pci 0000:05:00.0: registered as ‘phy0’
ath5k phy0: failed to resume the MAC Chip
ath5k_pci: probe of 0000:05:00.0 failed with error -5
ath_hal: 0.9.18.0 (AR5210, AR5211, AR5212, RF5111, RF5112, RF2413, RF5413)
ath_pci: 0.9.4
"
Wer kann mir noch helfen?

Grüße

hello,
i have a notebook (asus x50n) with a wlan-card named " Atheros Communications Inc. AR242x 802.11abg".
Under suse 10.3 the wlan-card runs with the ndiswrapper device. Under suse 11.0 the wlan-card runs nether
with ndiswrapper nor with madwifi.

Now i have reinstalled suse 11.0 with the newest packaged of madwifi from madwifi.org-repository.
Yast shows me the wlan-card, but i can’t configure it. dmesg | grep ath returns:
"
ath5k_pci 0000:05:00.0: registered as ‘phy0’
ath5k phy0: failed to resume the MAC Chip
ath5k_pci: probe of 0000:05:00.0 failed with error -5
ath_hal: 0.9.18.0 (AR5210, AR5211, AR5212, RF5111, RF5112, RF2413, RF5413)
ath_pci: 0.9.4
"

Can somebody help me?

thanks

Hello,

i download the latest snapshot from this site and installed it, using this instruction.

Now, my wlan-card runs fine.

regards.

I finally got it to work with ndiswrapper and that’s fine for me… as long as it’s running I’d rather not touch it:-)

greetings
I got a new toy HP DV6921LA with a Atheros AR242x WiFi card.
I tried following all the advices and ideas shared till now:

rpmbuild of the src.rpm
and the last one linked above: UserDocs/FirstTimeHowTo - madwifi.org - Trac (compilation of madwifi source)
But seems I’m not able to get a good system response:
After finishing make, make install (with no problems)
I’m stuck in:

wlanconfig ath0 create wlandev wifi0 wlanmode sta
wlanconfig: ioctl: No such device <- system response

if I do a iwconfig only lo and eth0 devices appear.
These is quite strange since the machine has dual boot and Vista works fine with the WiFi.

Here is the system hwinfo results for --wlan

hwinfo --wlan

Instead of tacking on the end of someone elses unrelated post, why not start your own post in the wireless section ?

Andy

Why is it unrelated? isn’t it the same WiFi device?

Last minute advice given to me: Use madwifi-hal
it might work, openSuSE.org webpage also mentions madwifi-hal (not very clearly for a noob)

Thanks,

Carlos A.
