Asus Zenbook Touchpad problem

Hi everyone!

I’ve just installed openSuse Tumbleweed with KDE on my Asus UX305 and the touchpad doesn’t work. I’ve read a lot and tried some things:

Please, help! I now use a USB mouse, but I can’t use it every day, so it’s a major problem for me.

edited: and just as I’ve posted this, the touchpad started working! I’m sorry for spamming, but perhaps it will help someone, so I write here what I’ve done: I unplugged the USB with which I installed the OS, and then I tried to install the drivers once again. It sent some error messages about not finding the installtation media, but with skipping these and finishing the installtation from the servers it finally worked.

Something is funky with touchpad support. I posted this in the forum sometime back: https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/512136-Touchpad-Stopped-Working-quot-Synaptics-Backend-Not-Found-quot. After using a USB mouse for about a month, the touchpad started working again. Then three days ago it stopped working. Then yesterday is started working. Now today it stopped working again.

I love OpenSuse but I can’t be in a position where I lose the ability to use my laptop on random days. I’m a low-intermediate Linux user and while I’m willing to spend some time getting things to work, this seems to be a bug that is beyond the scope of my abilities. Any ideas would be appreciated, otherwise I may need to find another distro. I’m on 42.1 and Plasma 5 (although the touchpad doesn’t work in other desktops either).

Hi
Is the xf86-input-libinput package installed?

Yes, it is and now it works perfectly. Thank you! Weird thing is when I installed it with my original installer USB plugged in, it didn’t make the touchpad work, but after I removed the USB and installed the drivers again everything was perfect.
