ASUS P6T ALSA not working

ASUS P6T CHIPSET X58 /ICH10R CPU i720
opensuse11.1 86_64

The sound cannot be configured due
to still missing ALSA support for this Intel chipset.

Is there anything else I can do short of
purchasing a supported soundcard until the
driver gets updated ?

after running alsaconf and setting the PCM controll to full
in Kmixer I now get sound

My Asus P6T arrives today.

Any hints about things to watch for (such as BIOS settings) when doing the initial install?
