Has anyone used the new ASUS Motherboard Model M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 successfully with a SLES 11 install? I am planning on building a box to run Oracle 11g on and would like to know if this new motherboard is supported.
You really should post this on the SLED forum at Novell (sorry, don’t know the URL). SLED and openSuSE are similar but not the same animal.
As a sled and opensuse user, if one works, the other works too.
Have a look and see if the motherboard works with other distros - if it does, it should also work on sled.
Another thing to check is the asus site to see if there are any linux support files. Asus are usually pretty good at linux compatibility.
maybe i should start a new thread… not sure.
i have a new Asus UL80J (march 2010?) and want to install opensuse 11.2 (64-bit, of course). anyone know if it’s compatible? i havew windows 7 on now and would like to not **** things up… but maybe i’ll be impatient and just give it a shot anyways and try to partition the hard drive myself.
I did install openSUSE 11.3 and Ubuntu 10.04 on that mb (ASUS M4A89GTD PRO/USB3).
No problem. The onboard HD4290 is not supported by the ATI driver in the repo (10.6) but works right away with the open source radeonhd. Actually it does work with fglrx too but displays an annoying message “unsupported hardware”, which disapppears if you install the latest driver (10.8). No reason to complain otherwise.
Yep. You should.
