I have been thinking about putting together a new machine with an ASUS M4A78T-E motherboard AMD PhenomII 910 and DDRIII 1333 mhz RAM. I will be loading 11.1 64 bit.
Is anyone currently using this board and if so can you provide me some feed back on your experience with it. I am particularly interested in how the ATI Radeon HD3300 is working for you as well as sound support.
I am currently running Asus M3A78-EM boards and I have had some performance and stability problems with the ATI Radeon HD3200 and the ALC1200 analog sound.
Tim,
I’m using that motherboard now, and it all worked out of the box with the exception of 3D acceleration. I installed fglrx from the repositories (The Easy Way), which worked, but gave me some problems with wine and opengl apps. So I installed the current driver (The Hard Way), and I have no issues at all with 3D.
The only problem I have now is that when I uninstalled the old fglrx, the sound stopped working…
rotfl! lol … reminds me of my electrical engineering lab classes 35 years ago. … After spending an hour carefully constructing an electrical circuit, hooking up the oscilliscope and various volt meters and test equipment to examine the output, we could not for the life of us figure out why our experiment did not work, and we had nothing showing on any of the test equipment.
Then after another 20 minutes of head scratching, it finally occured to my lab partner and I that we had forgotton to switch ON the power to our test circuit. rotfl!
