Hi there, i recently installed the new Suse 11.0 and made all of updates including some extra repository’s! if i’m not wrong all was good before updating, but, now, it every minute my computer freezes a couple times and moves again, (what i call breaks a couple times) and then comeback to normal to start breaking again 1 min after… it seems it is somewhat related with the wireless device, because if i turn it off, this won’t happen! anyway i need the wirelless back home and this is very very anoying!!! =/
one other thing is that times to times i can see the refresh rate of the lcd, this only happen 1 or twice every 5m, but maybe something wrong… it doesnt take 5s to refresh but like 1s or maybe less but not normal, don’t know if you get my point…
Does anyone know if there is any aplication to see if drivers are all well installed, etc…?like in windows the device manager? Thank You all ScotchBritt
P.s- I posted this earlier in hardware(laptop) help, because i tought it was more precise… because i dont know if the problem is really with the wirelless driver or something, but much probably it is… here is the link and some ideas… Ty for help

try the ipw driver to see if that helps. Failing that, compat-wireless may work.

p.s. are you doing a lot of development stuff ? lot of repo’s you don’t really need. Could be why you may have problems, some of the stuff from the repo’s you have is pretty cutting edge,& if you’re not used to problem solving in *nixes, well, 'nuff said
well i basicly need most of stuff and some i will need in some months since i am computer engineering, and i have diferent subjects with diferent utilitys needed… but i have a question: are all the build services only for software designing or do they work for updates to, for example:
OpenSuse BuildService-Jogos(games) is only for games development, or can i use it to download games and update them?
the same applyes to all this ones:
openSUSE BuildService-Controladores para cameras web (webcam controler)
openSuse BuildService-KDE4:Factoryesktop
OpenSuse BuildService-Construçoes Wine CVS
OpenSuse BuildService-KDE:Backports
OpenSuse BuildService-OpenOffice.org
KDE:Qt (dont know what this is… only put it because KDE…)
OpenSuse BuildService-Mozilla
if they are in fact only for development, how can i uninstall all the stuff they installed?
what you mean with ipw driver sorry i am a little noob in linux… =S
1 ) OpenSuse BuildService-Mozilla - only if you need the latest beta/functionality, if you want stable try this one download.opensuse.org/repositories/mozilla/openSUSE_11.0/
2 ) KDE:Qt (dont know what this is… only put it because KDE…) - only needed if you are updating kde4 beta’s
3 ) OpenSuse BuildService-OpenOffice.org - not needed unless you are after bleeding edge/beta, stick with standard repo
4 ) OpenSuse BuildService-KDE:Backports - only needed if you are using older versions of openSUSE
5 ) OpenSuse BuildService-Construçoes Wine CVS - same as before, only if you need bleeding edge stuff
6 ) openSuse BuildService-KDE4:Factoryesktop - only if you are VERY brave this is cutting edge/beta stuff
7 ) openSUSE BuildService-Controladores para cameras web (webcam controler) - not really needed once drivers are installed, they get updated not very often.
As for the ipw drivers, they will be on the install media, un-install iwl & then, install ipw.

hhmmm ok, i think i will try to reinstall the suse11.0 and install it will kde3.5 and only install the good repository’s, what you think?
i am only having problems choosing between kde 4.0 and 3.5 some of my teachers tell me that 4.0 that it is still little bit “problematic”
KDE4 is still problematic/unstable.Personally,if you have a separate /home partition, i would format /root & re-install then mount /home.That way you get to keep all your settings/documents
Andy
no i dont did that i had done it that way if i new what i new today… i will just reinstall all, and put what i need in a pen! i think it will be ok! i will check with u results here later
