Hi,
am trying to install suse 13.1 on the above laptop. The install goes well and partitioning and everything smooth, but then when it comes time to boot from the hard drive for the second stage of the install, it just says error loading operating system!
Anyone got any ideas as to what is going on. things i have tried:
checked thebios for hdd boot protection of some kind, but nothing.
took hdd out of laptop and used windows partition tool to clear partitions and then tried again

Ok just given me an idea, it could be the bootloader, will try a different one
The bootloader is Grub 2 in 13.1
Just try checking the settings as per my guide
Another option is - if the install seemed to go good and you just want to try re-writing grub, you could follow this repair guide:

ok problem solved, for some reason 13.1 was not using the mbr for loading grub. had to enable it and all fine now.
