Hi!
I’ve tried with several files now, I have a series of .r01 .r02 files etc.
When I open Ark it says the file is maybe 698 mb, but will sometimes only unpack around 315 mb, then maybe 450 mb.
Any clues?

Have you tried adding the rar package? I found it works better.
Yep, no difference
It seems then that it is not recognizing the fact that the file has been split. You need a program that will join them.
I haven’t looked for a linux utility, but in windows hjsplit works well. It does run under wine.
Just tried unpacking them via unrar and terminal, seems fine that way
WinRAR works great under wine.

I’ve noticed that ark has trouble with rar files with a space in the
filename.
Aku isn’t any different.
The one gui program that seems to work flawlessly is file-roller.
No problems with spaces in filenames or whatever archive.

Has anyone posted a bug yet?
After installing “unrar” not “rar” with yast, I have an extract option on the right click menu in konqueror that unpacks multiple rar archives. Right click on the file with the “.rar” extension not one of the numbered ie “.r01, .r02” files.
For numbered archives that aren’t rar’s such as .001, .002 try installing p7zip, it has to be run from a console though and as I recall it has problems with spaces in filenames. You can do batch file renaming with krename to fix a long list of names quickly, so it might help to install it too.
I hate workarounds to problems that never existed before, until developers messed up the code so much that MORE bugs are created. There ought to be progress, not retrogression! Easier - not MORE difficult. Fewer – not more – bugs.
Sorry - rough day.
Ark is totally not working for me, now trying unrar to do the work.
xarchiver will do the job, this is a part of xfce DE.
it is light weight too.
install unrar
use xarchiver to open any of the rar.xx files, (if your files are splitted into many small rar files - open any file)
and extract
or try
unrar e -v filename.rar
regards

ark always fails when it comes to rar files.
xrchiver is a best option
for 11.1 once it worked.
