I must admit I try to use free codecs (really enjoying the sound of flac), but I haven’t any issues with flash, dvd, mp3’s etc.
I’m a sucker for all the eye candy (It’s great to see friends gawp!!) and using one-click my ati hd4850 works great.
So overall I wouldn’t install anything else as it seems logical, to me, to use 64bit kernel on 64bit machine and support the 64bit port. Any issues should be reported as bugs so developers are made aware and can increase compatibility.
Yes, for the most part. Had a little trouble getting the wifi on my motherboard to work(ar5007) but got that working. 64 bit flash works fine, 32 had some minor trouble.
Yes it works great, I’ve used 64-bit OpenSUSE 11 since the day it was released and there are no problems so far. If I have had to use a 32-bit app there’s always the compatibility libraries.
I had a nice surprise when I browsed with a quick test install of 11.1 on a cheap AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ box.
The flash worked right out of the box, installed, then ran, and oddly it seemed clearer somehow than under OS 10.3 32 bit, or 32 bit Vista; but may be that effect was due to excessive fumes and vapour emanating from all the OS installers I’ve been running the last few weeks.
