Are these kde or mouse issues?

Hi all,
I have noticed two behaviors that I can not control well with my mouse.

  1. I am inside dolphin. I click on a file… (just once) and the file after 2 seconds will open. I am using double click to open all my files so I am not sure what is causing this annoying behaviour

  2. many many times when righting on kwrite my right click (and perhaps a slight mouse move) will translate to cut, while typically I would like to do right click-copy.

Are these kde mouse issues or something with my mouse?

I would like to thank you for your reply
Regards
Alex

Are you using KDE (or even X) for the first time now?

Opening a file (or other action) on clicking on it is X Windows functionality since the 1980’s. I have never seen different. What are you expecting?
And what do you mean with “using double click”? That would normally open the file twice. Doesn’t that happen?

This is not completely clear.

In KDE, you can open the settings menu. Click on “Input devices”. And then click on “Mouse”.

There should be a choice of:

  • Double click to open files and folders (select icons on the first click)
  • Single click to open files and folders

The default is the second of those. If you have not changed that, then you are probably seeing normal KDE behavior but expecting Windows behavior. If you have changed that (selected the first of those options), then what you are describing is probably a defective mouse (key bounces).
