Are there any "Look and Feels" other than Breeze in KDE for LEAP?

I think it’s all in the title. When you go to look and feel you get Breeze and openSUSE and there doesn’t seem to be a way to add other look and feels. You can change and add Desktop Themes but that is different.

            • click the “Get new Theme” button, then browse the resulting list.

Yes, there’s “Oxygen” that’s part of the package oxygen5-style.

There’s also a button to download new look-and-feels in the settings module.

This is not the same as Look and Feel. Roughly speaking only, Desktop only affects the Desktop, Look and Feel affects more such as colors applications use. Again, that’s only roughly speaking, there’s some overlap I suspect.

Exactly how to I get to this “download new look-and-feels” button? I thought I was on the settings module and under “All settings: Appearance: Workspace Theme: Look and Feel” there is no button for downloading new look and feels otherwise I would have never asked the question.

The button is there on my system with Plasma 5.10, it’s located in the bottom-right corner and labelled “Get New Looks…”:

Might be new in 5.9 though, I’m not sure.
In any case, you can download look-and-feels (and other things like window decorations and desktop themes) manually from the KDE store too and “install” them manually. That’s where all those “Get new…” buttons get them from anyway.

I’m sure you are right, it’s just matter of getting a new version for that button to appear. I just did a

kde4-config -v

and it shows 4.8.6. It’s really not that important so I can wait until a newer version comes out but how did you get such a recent version of KDE with Leap?

That’s the version of your installed “kde4-config” utility, not Plasma’s version. (actually I think that’s rather the version of Qt4, kde4-config should have a version of 1.0…)

Do “plasmashell -v” instead, or look in kinfocenter or a package manager.

It’s really not that important so I can wait until a newer version comes out but how did you get such a recent version of KDE with Leap?

From the additional KDE:Frameworks5 repo (needs the latest Qt from KDE:Qt5 too).

Leap 42.2 comes with 5.8.6, and 42.3 will come with 5.8.7.
So if it was indeed new in 5.9, you’ll have to wait until Leap 15.0 next year… (or switch to Tumbleweed :wink: )

But as I wrote, you don’t necessarily need that button. You can download and install the same stuff manually. That button is just a “convenience shortcut” to store.kde.org.
