Are there any Canon imageCLASS drivers for opensuse?

The title pretty much says it. I’ve looked around and couldn’t find any. Perhaps there’s a substitute driver I could use like generic postscript driver or something?

Any ideas appreciated!

I did find a driver from Canon for:

  • Fedora 19 or 20
  • Ubuntu 1204 or 1404

but when I tried to install it it said there were drivers it needed that it couldn’t find… it was a long shot any way.

My printer is a MF227dw however I’ll be happy with any imageclass driver at this point as even Canon says there are no Linux drivers for that particular model just yet.

I recall this old thread concerning a Canon ImageCLASS device:

https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/495348-OpenSUSE-13-1-Canon-ImageClass-MF4370DN-Support-Installation

Anyway, a quick search for the MF227 model turned up this page

http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/printers_multifunction/black_white_laser_multifunction/imageclass_mf227dw

and there are Linux drivers available (as a tarball package). Did you try installing?

@deano_ferrari: Thanks for these. Funny thing, I went directly to their support page for the printer and it said there was no Linux driver for it but on the page for the printer you give, their commercial/sales page, there is a downloadable driver… it goes to show no matter how big a company they don’t always get it right.

Glad to have been of help. Did you manage to get the driver installed and the printer configured ok?
