Archives of old WINE RPMs?

I have an archaic application - invaluable to me but almost of zero general interest, which is no longer usable in newer versions of WINE.

FWIW over time the graphics have got worse and now I just get a black screen inside its window but the existence of “tool tips” pop-ups etc. suggests it still working.

I cant believe it is worth anyone’s effort to fix the problem in the current WINE.

Internet searches have brought no success in tracking down older versions. I’d like to get access to versions in the 5-6 range. Does anyone have any ideas, please?

That’s a regression, it would need regression tests and bug report
¿How old is the last WIne version that used to run it?

I understand its a regression. It’s been slowly getting worse over the last few years.

Nothing has crashed and until the black screen the application was usable but ugly.

A “few” versions ago, say 7-8 would restore its usabilty. A few more would restore better graphics. If I got back to a working version it might be possible to identify the problem but I can’t, e.g., generate a crash report as the application doesn’t appear to crash.

For regression tests you’ll need to compile. Follow the guide here
https://wiki.winehq.org/Regression_Testing

I advise using an Arch Linux or Debian Docker/Podman container to compile, OpenSUSE’s list of dependencies on their wiki are outdated.

To just use the application with an older version, you may use PlayOnLinux, it distributes many older versions of Wine.

Thank you, not sure I know how to use POL but will give it a go.
