hi
just wondering…
does such a distro exist, which is based on Arch linux, uses the Arch/pacman repositories, and has gnome as the default desktop?
distrowatch is a bit late to catch up on new/upcoming projects.

Since Arch itself has no default DE why are you not wanting to simply choose Gnome during the installation?
two reasons:
1)i have a funny internet provider. i need a graphical environment to log into my internet account. simply feeding in the IP and Gateway etc does not work.
2)the arch installer is notoriously prehistoric. (honestly, i don’t understand the reason behind keeping a distro deliberately un-newbie-friendly…at least have a graphical installer.)
Hmmm…well, I’ve not seen a distro based on Arch that has a Gnome DE and uses Arch’s own package repos. I did hear of the community working on an auto-install method so you might do a forum search over there to get more details.
It doesn’t meet your qualification for using the Arch package repos, but it seems to be a good project (though still in beta).
if it doesn’t use the arch package repos, then what does it use? is it as up-to-date as arch?
The website has a list of packages that are available which you can review. It also mentions that while the project is based on Arch, they have decided to use their own package repos. The extent to which they are kept up to date depends of course on the developers.

Looks kind of sketchy to me.
they are using the official Arch repos for now, actually. though on Beta stage…they might include their own repos later.it seems similar to Gentoo > Sabayon, doesn’t it?
what does ‘sketchy’ mean?

Same as shady. It just seems that the site /project is way to knew and
just thrown up there. The forums are about 2-3 days old it looks, the
web site is full of grammer and spelling errors and some of the things
on the About page really needs some type of explanation. Then there is
the package manager that is written in QT4 instead of GTK so it will
pull in KDE libraries most likely.
hmm…thanks. got me thinking now…
