Apps not running properly or at all unless root.

As the title states, some apps don’t even run when not root, though they seem to work fine when run as root. With dolphin I can’t even copy from a windows pc, but in Konqueror it is 100’s. I am quite baffled.

Ownership is the clue. Windows file system do not have the same permission flags so when mounted a synthetic permission is set up by the mount. SO it boils down to the permissions set with the mount command. You need to tell the mount to allow all users to use the files.

Not knowing how you mount the “Windows” partitions it is hard to tell exact instructions.

I agree with the above, but it does not explain that “some applications don’t even run”.

Can we please have at least one exact example instead of this vagueness. Execute it from a terminal emulator and show us all that comes out of that.

I am utterly confused. Everything is working again, better than it ever has. I have not even updated ANYTHING! I have seen many cases since Leap, where people were having issues, and SUSE “fixing” itself after a restart, or after a few days.

I was having issues copying over the network with Dolphin, from Windows ntfs partition to my SUSE xfs partition. My internal ntfs partitions had no issues with Dolphin, though they were about 20% slower in comparison to Konqueror.
