Applying update, do not turn off computer?

It might be the first time I saw this message during boot after years of using opensuse.

My last system update used the discovery instead of my routine ‘zypper dup’ in konsole. Upon rebooting, I had a GUI screen that told me to not turn off computer and a progress bar that looked very similar to a windows update. Then it reboot again after that.

I am a bit paranoid but is it normal?

I have not used Discover for updates, so I don’t know if that is normal.

From your description, it appears to be updating in a stand-alone session without the desktop running. That is a pretty safe way to update.

Yes, that’s normal, when using Discover to apply updates, and “offline updates” are enabled

Thanks for confirming. Wonder what I had missed as I don’t remember ever using discover for updates before.
