Im very new to this, so go easy one me 
Where in the heck to my apps go when i minimize them? Is there a way to have them in the taskbar like win? If i minimize thunderbird or ff, i have to open system activity then show application window… thanks for any info. I tried searching but either my issue is too simple, or too broad. rotfl!

Ahh yes, that would have been helpful.
4.1.3 (KDE 4.1.3) "release 4.10.4
Right click on the panel (the bar down at the bottom) then choose unlock widets (if it’s an option). Then choose Add Widgets. Search for Task Manager and then click it and choose Add Widget. Then you can click the little cashew shaped thing at the bottom and move it to where you want it.
