Apple UK keyboard in KDE

I recently installed OpenSUSE 12.2, and have a Mac mini with a standard UK Apple keyboard (which has the double quote and @ signs reversed as in the US layout, among other changes). I set the keyboard layout to “UK” in YaST and found the Apple settings in System Settings on KDE. However, the system then overrode that and I cannot get the KDE setting to stick. YaST does not have any options for keyboard settings other than English (UK) and English (US). How do I get the Apple keyboard to give the letters and symbols it says?

$ setxkbmap -layout gb

But KDE should be able to do that too.
