AppArmor fails to load after kernel recompilation

Hey guys,

I noticed on my boot log that the AppArmor fails to load after I installed a kernel I optimized (used 2.6.35.5). Am I missing something here? Do I need to recompile a module? If so, how do I do so?

I am running OpenSUSE 11.3 with a self-customized Linux 2.6.35.5 (optimized for my AMD Phenom II).

Thanks,

I am no expert on AppArmor, but anytime you start using kernels that are newer than anything AppArmor was released with, surely you may be on your own in getting it to function. Here is a link or two on the subject that might be helpful.

Novell AppArmor - Developer Community

Thank You,

Thanks for your quick reply, but looking at the Linux kernel configuration menu, there’s no option for AppArmor support O.o … am I missing something?

Novell patch the default openSUSE kernel to include apparmor.

Therefore if using a vanilla kernel it will not have apparmor, you must patch it with the apparmor patch.

Novell / openSUSE documentation concerning apparmor needs to be updated.

After searching on google, I have found this.

I draw you attention to : https://apparmor.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/Gittutorial

I havent had time to play around with it, let me know how you get on.

True. They are hosted by Ubuntu now. Remember Novell fired the devs?
