Do You actually use AppArmor on your desktop computers ?
How is it better/worse from SElinux ?
Does anyone has some basic guide on how to set it up to help prevent threats from basic network applications like i.e. firefox ?

There is a wizard.
And forget Novell, the project is hosted at Ubuntu. Novell docs are obsolete.

It is since 2.6.36 part of the kernel.
Novell stopped the project in 2007 (I think) but it is not that ubuntu took
it over (but ubuntu has good documentation for it).
