Apcupsd not starting

Ever since updating apcupsd from the openSUSE repo’s, I can not
start Apcupsd from the Application Launcher or Desktop folder ICONS.

Unit: APC Backup Pro 1300

Code

finemanruss@linux-rpl7:~> rpm -qi apcupsd

What I have determined is apscupd is not being started boot.

If I executefrom the command line:
Code

@linux-rpl7:~> sudo apcupsd
root’s password:
finemanruss@linux-rpl7:~>

/Code

apcupsd starts.
Code

root 3812 0.0 0.0 104132 972 ? Ssl 07:54 0:00 apcupsd
/Code

Once apcupsd is started, I can then click the Icon and gapcmon
starts and continues working properly.

Has anyone else seen this, is it possible it is now starting with
systemd. If no one has seen this I will report bug.

I know it not the hard ware since it work perfectly under 12.2
(located on seperate disk).

Thanks for any help you can provide.

So I use this application for my UPS under openSUSE 12.3, but there are some added steps required to make it work. Please have a look at my blog on the subject here: APC UPS Monitor applications apcupsd & apcupsd-gui (gapcmon) installation and the new openSUSE 12.3 - Blogs - openSUSE Forums

Thank You,

It has to do with auto start. If I manually type in command
(apcupsd)from command line. Then click on the icon (gapcmon) it
starts.It also works(Auto starts) when I boot 12.2 instead of 12.3.

I know the ups works as I just experiences a power drop that reset
some of my external digital clocks, but not my computer.

Here what happens when I type commands in your write up.
CODE

@linux-rpl7:~> rpm -qa |grep apcupsd

CODE

#@linux-rpl7:~> less /etc/apcupsd/apcupsd.conf

CODE

linux-rpl7:~ # /bin/systemctl enable
/usr/lib/systemd/system/apcupsd.service
ln -s ‘/usr/lib/systemd/system/apcupsd.service’
‘/etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/apcupsd.service’
/CODE

Should there be a link from apcupsd.service?

After getting other errors I decided to reboot my system. On reboot
the APCUPSD started automatically and then the GUI. I will see what
happens tommorrow after I shutdown and restart in AM. If it does not
start I will do the desktop steps.

Again thats for all your help.
