apache on xinetd

Dear All,

Can you let me know if it is possible to run Apache webserver on xinetd. If yes, then do you have any link or else?

This is a bad idea. Apache is a heavyweight server and making each web request (every HTML file, every included GIF image, every Javascript inclusion) cause one Apache process to undergo initialisation will drain your machine’s power. So people don’t do it that way.

Dear ken_yup,
if this is the thing then i have configured this for proftpd on my server, this proftpd gets around 6 to 8 thousand requests per day. So as per your suggestion i should run proftpd on standalone mode?

Yes, maybe you consider it.
