Good point. Even I am hunting for i3,i4,i5 laptop to test OpenSuSe 11.3
I am soon going to run live cd of opensuse 11.3 on some i3 SONY VAIO laptop to check out some basic performance factors.
but overall feedback from other linux distro users is that they facing issues with those i4,i5 processors.
Seems like it’s going to be a controversial release just designed for M$ platform?
makes me believe that graphics on the clarkdale should be working fine with the new driver available in 11.3. Now that these new processors with integrated graphics are really hitting the market in considerable numbers I would expect a lot of posts here if it would not work. But still, there is some doubt what to expect.
Is it working for you with plain vanilla 11.3 or did you have to tweak it in any way?
In the meantime I got my new hardware with Asus P7H55-M PRO motherboard and Intel Core i3 530 CPU @2.93 GHz and have installed 11.3 32-bit. ‘top’ sees 4 cpu’s and graphics work fine. I have not activated desktop effects because I do not like/need them.
