Has anyone used bitcoin (http://www.bitcoin.org/)? If so, can you give some feedback on:
- how you got started?
- Did you purchase anything with bitcoins?
- How did you get bitcoins?
- Have you received them as payment?

according to a german article i read (11 june), bitcoin suffered a recent
drop in value:
http://www.spiegel.de/netzwelt/netzpolitik/0,1518,768071,00.html.
according to a lot of other articles, governments & financial institutions
will crack down on this “currency” pretty soon, since it’s something they
can’t control, even less than ‘real’ money. also it seems to be getting
increasingly difficult to generate bitcoins by computing power, requiring
specialized rigs (read that somewhere, but don’t remember the links).

there is an earlier thread in this forum on the same topic
http://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php?t=460707
in which i say:
isn’t this a creative variation on “the Nigerian scam” or maybe just a
high tech ponzi or pyramid scheme??
in any of those schemes i think the anonymous hacker with $2,400,000.00
has already won…and i don’t wanna play, thank you!!
caveat emptor you all!!
but, maybe you become a bit coin millionaire…so, ymmv
