Anyone Having Crashes With nVidia Version 460.32.03 Display Drivers?

Hi,

Running openSUSE Tumbleweed KDE 64Bit for over a year no issues.
A few days ago I started having “kwin” crashes every few hours.
The new nVidia version 460.32.03 display drivers are not working well on my system.
Anyone else having issues?

Went back to older version 455.45.01 display drivers.
My video card is an nVidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB GDDR5.
I guess I will run the older driver until a newer one becomes available.

Let me know, thanks!

Jesse

Hi,

Ok, been running the older nVidia display driver for over a day and no crashes.
Guess I will try the next driver when it’s released…

Hi
No issues seen with qemu/GT710 or this desktop (intel, GT1030 and GT710) and latest driver 460.32.03 installed the hard way. But I’m on the GNOME DE, could be a DE issue rather than driver?

Hi,

Perhaps…

What is “kwin”? Is that something specific to KDE?
With the newest nVidia display driver, “kwin” would crash every few hours.

Hi
Yes, that’s KDE/Plasma…

docb@X1E:~> rpm -qa | grep nvidia
nvidia-gfxG05-kmp-default-460.32.03_k5.10.4_1-33.2.x86_64
x11-video-nvidiaG05-460.32.03-33.1.x86_64
nvidia-glG05-460.32.03-33.1.x86_64
nvidia-computeG05-460.32.03-33.1.x86_64
kernel-firmware-nvidia-20201218-1.1.noarch

works fine on an optimus laptop

Ok, I posted this issue in the official KDE forums below:

Hi,

Looks like a hardware failure with that desktop.
Just to be sure I put the broken desktop’s SSD drive into another desktop.
I’ll use the old SSD drive in the other desktop to check if it still crashes.
Thanks!

Jesse

I have the proprietary nvidia-460.32 running on kde plasma5 (framework 5.78.0 plasma 5.20.5) with no problems. I’ve had installed since first available. I also have it in tumbleweed.
