Anyone got nvidia GTX 10xx working...

… with the proprietary driver from nvidia?

If so, please share!

Mine’s not as posh as that ( a 640 ) at that didn’t work either.
Installed 42.3 OK and with Nouveau worked fine then added the Nvidia
drivers from the community repos and after I just get a cursor
on a black screen.

I see now SUSE has substituted the previously working 375.66 driver with the brand-new 384.59 driver both in 42.2 & 42.3 repos, released 2 days ago by NVIDIA. Most probably there are some bugs with it?

If you are impatient waiting for the fix, you may wish to try installing the old proven 375.66 driver the hard way https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:NVIDIA_the_hard_way by downloading it from NVIDIA - it definitely works with any kernel from 4.4 to 4.12 included and supports all videocards from GTX 400 up (without the brand-new GeForce GT 1030 & GeForce MX150)

Try like this
Ctrl + Alt + F1
login
Type su - send and become root
Yast2 sending
Look for> nvidia> actions> with the tab keys and send you update everything unconditionally> ok
When it has finished rebooting

That is correct, in yast2 after we choose the correct driver for the card (I am using G04), for each of the driver just do update unconditionally.

Works fine here with a GTX 650, BUT with the G03 blob version, see here:

https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/526146-Switch-GTX-650-by-1050-only-console-(no-X)-after-nvidia-blob-update

Of course this is in openSUSE 13.2, but I haven’t heard of any regression with 42.x, and perhaps G04+42.x works for the 400 series (but I very much doubt it).

Back to my 1050, from this https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/526074-GTX-1080-Ti-vs-Leap-42-2?p=2831336#post2831336 it seems there’s a (convoluted) way of getting the blob to work with 42.2, but I’m not willing to risk it. Perhaps it is best to delay my planned 42.3 install to give the nvidia guys some time to get it right.

Meanwhile the 1050 will sit on a shelf…

GTX 980 owner here, the new driver worked fine on leap 42.2 when I installed it earlier today. A bit disappointing that you’re having issues though, Leap is meant to be the stable one!
