Any timeline for Packman to upgrade to kodi 17.0?

Lately, I noticed packman repo kept updating kodi 16.1 almost on a daily basis while kodi 17.0 has already been release. AFAICT, this is a waste of bandwidth. Can anyone tell me if there is a timeline for packman to release kodi 17.0? This way, I will stop upgrading kodi 16.1. Thanks.

Likely automatic rebuilds because of changes elsewhere.

Can anyone tell me if there is a timeline for packman to release kodi 17.0?

You should better ask on the Packman mailinglist:
http://lists.links2linux.de/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/packman

But there already is a thread about this:
http://lists.links2linux.de/pipermail/packman/2017-February/014991.html

The reply sounds like it should be there soon…

Thank you. I hope to see kodi 17.0 coming out soon.

Looks good, I’d say.
The comments in the branch on PMBS:

Hey, any chance to submit this to Multimedia, or is it not ready yet?

Yes, hopefully today

Show home:sagiben / kodi - Packman Build Service PMBS

Hopefully, it will be released soon. I am eager to try this. The one I have on an Android TV Box is better than its previous one, except it consumes more CPU resources.

It has been updated already, but doesn’t build currently.

The main problem seems to be that it needs a newer libcec than is available even in Tumbleweed (though an upgrade has been submitted already).
They want to do an update for 42.2 (https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1026659), I don’t know what will happen with 42.1 though…

PS: Actually they do have a libcec package in Packman too (for 42.1 and 42.2), but that’s just a link to the standard one in Factory/Tumbleweed.

So as soon as the newer libcec is in Tumbleweed, kodi 17.0 should be available in Packman too (for all supported distribution versions, i.e. 42.1, 42.2 and Tumbleweed).

You can watch the progress here, if you want to:

Installed it yesterday using the link from sagiben, upgraded from v16, working well for my Leap 42.2.

libcec 0.4 has been accepted to Factory 8 hours ago and has been successfully built in Packman already, now kodi 17 just needs to be built too (it’s currently scheduled).
I would expect it to appear in the standard Packman repo later today… (for 42.1 and 42.2 that is)

It’s available meanwhile:
