Any Solution?

hello, i downloaded and installed opensuse 11.0 dvd, but i cant get the internet to work, here is the problem.

i have 2 options for internet connection, one is pptp (vpn) and other is pppoe, i have try’d pptp on many, many linux distribution but without luck, so, i contacted my provider and they added support for pppoe, but now when i want to create new pppoe connection it needs to download something, so, how am i supposed to download something when i dont have any connection to the internet? i have searched for solution for over one year, i have try’d many *nix distros by now but without luck, can anyone help me out?

p.s. sorry for my bad english.

one more question, how do i set the color depth to 32bit? it shows me only 16 and 14 modes, i have ati mobility radeon 9600/9700 series with 128mb or vram…

What type internet connection are you using, is it DSL by an ethernet device, cable modem, or what? Did you try to just create a new connection in that network configuration application? For your other question about 32 bit color for video, there are video drivers available at the openSUSE site here; ATI - openSUSE

tnx for your reply, i have ethernet connection and need to setup an dsl connection, tnx for the ati link.

i have downloaded rp-pppoe, does opensuse 11 comes with pppd? if yes i can try to manualy install this and give it a try?

PPPOE is an older style DSL method of connection. I have a newer DSL modem with Verizon as my provider, and it is just connected as a direct wired ethernet type, which is the DHCP service which assigns a dynamic IP address. You should ask your provider, but I think you can do it that direct connect way also. Also turn on your DSL modem early in the computer boot-up process, so that SUSE can try to detect and configure it.
