Is there any software out there that can disable the touchpad on your laptop? The one I use on another distro is QSynaptics. But quite honestly, as long as it disables it, I don’t mind what software it is.

Search for synapt in:
software.opensuse.org
and you will find gsynaptics for Gnome and synaptiks for KDE.
With the 1-Click Install button (not a ‘button’ anymore) the correct version of the package and dependencies are automatically selected.
