Any openSUSE 13.1 OpenOffoce 4.1 RPMs around? LibreOffice lockes up...still.

Every time I have attempted to use StarOffoce, OpenOffice or LibreOffice, it has locked up on me when I go beyond the most basic functionality. This just happened to me with the LibreOffice bundled with OS13.1 when I attempted to manipulate the csv files in http://www.politicalfriendster.com/ using the spreadsheet app. It may not have completely locked up, but it runs for over an hour doing a simple autosave. Pretty useless.

I want to try using OpenOffice 4.1 to see if it can handle these files. Has anybody put out SO13.1 RPMs for OO 4.1? Where?

Not sure this is your problem, but if you’re using KDE try removing the libreoffice-kde integration package. You get an uglier UI in LO but no delays on file operations.

About RPM, AFAIK there’s no OO package for openSUSE - at least a repo search shows nothing:

http://software.opensuse.org/search?q=openoffice&baseproject=openSUSE%3A13.1&search_devel=true&search_unsupported=false

Since OO is now Apache OpenOffice, did you try the Apache site? Perhaps there’s a RPM there you could try.

Alternatively, there’s Abiword that, from what I read, may be a good enough replacement to LO Write for your needs:

https://build.opensuse.org/package/show?project=openSUSE%3A13.1&package=abiword

You have detailed instruction for installing Apache OpenOffice on any Linux Distro on OpenOffice’s official forum:
