Install Vista and update it
Then install openSUSE. My advice.

Backup if needed first.

Yes, and there are probably some instructions online, but vista (or any
version of windows) WILL break any other OS on the system. microsoft
writes their OS to take over the boot process completely and, unlike
Linux, it doesn’t have the ability to boot other OS’s. As a result it’s
easiest for you to work around their inabilities by installing windows
first, then Linux which will setup dual-boot for you by default.
Alternatively, run vista in a VM. The last alternative, what you’re
asking for, is to backup your MBR and Grub configuration, do the vista
install in free space you already have free (microsoft won’t nicely resize
your partitions either like Linux will), then use a Linux boot disk to put
Grub back and configure it to boot windows. This may not be too bad, but
it may also be something you want to avoid depending on your experience
with computers.
Good luck.

but i dont know how to configure grub in windows…
i got some idea about what you were

thanks
I might be wrong. But if you put your Vista disk in as if to install you will come up against a brick wall because it will not be able to find a valid partition or create one.
There is a boot loader you can use from Vista but it’s not called Grub:
Download EasyBCD 1.7.2 - NeoSmart Technologies
Using it you can manage booting Linux. But I say again, Vista first then suse. Or as AB suggested run it in a VM like Virtual Box.
thanks for all your help mates
you suggested about neosmart
but does it really works better

If that all sounds like a magical exercise I would really recommend you do
it on another system first (test) before you try it on yours. While
recovery is possible it’s still a risk. If you can just install a Virtual
Machine (VM) of windows. It may be a little slower but if you disable all
the stupid graphical nonsense (fade, slide, etc.) you’ll get some of that
performance back. I have only used windows in VMs on my laptop and when I
needed it the OS resumes in about ten seconds and when I’m done it
suspends (the VM suspends… saves state and goes away until I need it
again) in about twenty seconds.
If you insist on wasting your hard drive space and time by booting back
and forth Google for ‘install windows after linux’ and there are a few
hits to help you.
Good luck.

thanks for all your help
i will try some of the options you all have suggested me
Better? No idea. Never used it. But some do and it seems fine from reports.
I have Vista on my Laptop HD. Never boot the Cr*p - waste of space and it’s going next time I install (11.2)
VM’s work a treat if you must use windows.
> please help me…
no one can help you do the impossible (easily install Vista, or ANY M$
product) on a previously existing Linux install, and have Linux work
again)…
can NOT be done, easily or safely…you may write Mr. Bill a thank you
note for that hook.
next time: begin with Redmond (if you must) and lay Linux on top–EASY!

Conficter
It’s bool**** that it can’t be done.
Install Windows Vista on a new partition. Reinstall Grub with the OpenSuse DVD (repair-> bootloader). You will be able to boot again into OpenSuse. From there, go to YaST -> System -> Boot Loader. Manually add a new entry which points to Windows
Add -> Chainloader Section. There add a title, Windows Vista, make sure you check Do not Verify Filesystem Before Booting. Block Offset is 1, and then under other system try /dev/sda1 . If /dev/sda1 does not work, try 2, 3 etc.
Good luck!
ya TheUnknownCylon is right
anyway win Vista is a peace of crap OpenSuse 11.1 is much better and of course free, and to run some win apps ther is is Wine it works!!!
its just my opinion !!!
Multibooters - Dual/Multi Booting With Vista
And an ideal solution and by far, my preferred option is to have 2 HD’s and have Linux on one and windblows on the other. Then use grub from the Linux HD to boot win.
i tried to do so… you gave a better idea but not the ideal one…
because vista on installs on the primary partitions… where i had my opensuse…
so i couldn’t do that whole thing
any way got vista installed my deleting those ext3 partitions…
lost my most beautiful linux

your opinion is very good but can you answer to one query
does wine fully supports to play windows games in linux?
Never too late to reinstall OpenSuse then
