thanks in advance for your comments!

Thanks Andy for your quick reply. Please pardon my ignornace, but isn’t clamav an antivirus package to be attached to mail transfer agents and not for scanning regular files?
nope, it does it all, i have it on my laptop & desktop, just in case i have to send a windows user a file or they send me one ( don’t have any version of windows in my house, except the ones with glass )
Andy
thanks a lot! I’ll check it out.

Just got klamav working … thanks for your help.
BTW, I wonder why klamav is not included by default on the retail DVD… I just checked
Package List/11.0/DVD9 - openSUSE
and only clamav is included

don’t know about OSX, but i’ve never run any anti-virus on any linux box…ever…

klamav is just a QT frontend for clamav so they may not include klamav on the retail DVD for space concerns or something, that is my best guess. Good to hear that you got it working for you.
cool, glad you are sorted, now enjoy dunno why it isn’t on the retail dvd, never checked, once i install, i set up my repo’s to include this ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/distribution/11.0/repo/oss/suse/i586/ just in case my dvd gets damaged/lost/broken
Andy
me neither… but you just have to start someday, even if it’s just for kicks

because it is, so far, an unnecessary waste of cycles and space…
