i have winXP SP3 running as guest in VB OSE from suse repos. it’s running just fine. but there is very strange thing - my xp is 8GB big.
i have started install of XP on dynamic 8gb disk. it is clean install all i did is install XP updated it from normal install to SP3, installed office 2007 and suddenly got warning message - your disk is full please…blabla…
is it normal - XP taking up this much disk space?
second question - from what i have read there is no way expanding disk space, am i wrong?
Since virtual machines are stored in files, one of their resources “the virtual hard disk” can increase their size. Are you sure you gave “Dynamic” to your xp virtual hard drive?
The installation of Windows XP requires at least 1.5Gb of hard disk space, then Windows XP by itself cannot be eating 8Gb.
Otherwise just create a new virtual hard disk, and mount it on your xp.

i’m rolling out as i type this second xp machine now with 20gb dynamic disk just to see if story repeats itself
I don’t know how much increase VirtualBox the dynamic hard disk space in one step, for example VMware grows by steps of two Gb. I feel more confortable with VMware server than with VirtualBox, you have more tools, and a better management of your virtual machines.
VMware server is free.
thnx katziderr, i know that. i used to run vmware, but prefer vbox. simply because i don’t need my virtual windowsXP that often (only in school) and vbox loads it’s applications only when you lounch it. vmware on the other hand runs banch of services at start up, which makes booting way longer.
