Amarok

ok so I’m trying to figure why my amarok won’t work, I got Opensuse recently, I have a Dell Studio 1558. I have a few more problems but this one is the one that is bugging me the most at them moment I was wondering if anyone could help. I have tried other media players but they don’t seem to work either. Youtube videos and internet web browsers have sound and video also play sound and work just fine. I appreciate the help.

I have seen a few having trouble with it.
Can I suggest you try clementine

You may need to add the extra repo. Clementine is just like amarok

Let me see your repo list with:

zypper lr -d

Then I can advise the correct version of the repo

Now open a terminal and become su -
This is how you su -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Wv-IaDsitA)

and do:

zypper in clementine

Now try it

When I try to play a file in Clementine I get and error that says

Failed to connect: Connection refused

Could not initialize supporting library.

One thing for sure
You need to remove repo 4 Videolan

Then do this:

sorry I have been a little busy since the last attempt, I tried this and still nothing :\ I’m sorry for the hassle I just really want to get this work write now

Tell more. When you say Amarok is not working. What happens, does it start and run?

If you (with amarok close) in a terminal type: amarok
what is the output in the terminal?

Yes it starts runs but no sounds comes out, the sound works on my browser but doesn’t work on the media player

As su - do this

rcalsasound restart

then reboot

try amarok

another note before I restart the sound works on videos that I have like .mkv files but sometimes when I put the laptop to sleep after I come back to use it no sound will come out of those .mkv files

ok just got back sorry no go :\

OK
Just try what I said

ok when I did that it ask if it should permanently forget the drivers should I say yes or no?

Answer no or just cancel/close it

still nothing sorry

I’ll have to come back to this after more sleep…

ok I really appreciate the help, I’m such a noob :\
