In .kde4 (hidden user files) delete these

This folder: .kde4/share/apps/amarok

These files:

.kde4/share/config/amarok-appletsrc
.kde4/share/config/amarok_homerc
.kde4/share/config/amarokrc

try amarok again

Done that, no sound still.

In System Settings - General Tab - Computer Admin - Multimedia

Device Prefs - Music: I have Pulse Audio Sound Server
Backend: I have XINE

What about you?

Yeah, I got pulseaudio enabled and tested, it works well. I have alsa and oss as well.

This ‘sounds’ like a simple case of settings/configuration. Or maybe not so simple. But if sound works elsewhere…

Carl:

I prefer Alsa and it works very well with MPlayer, Kaffeine, etc. Not worried over Amarok, not good for my way of computing. I will like to resolve the conflict and get over it.

Best,

David

I guess I have contradictions, trying to resolve everything right now. Reinstalled mysql and dependencies. Lets see how it works after restart. I check the settings, I have configured amarok correctly to work with xine and alsa, I can hear the sounds when I test the audio from Amarok settings.

Gstreamer seems to be the problem.

What type of file is it you are playing in amarok, mp3?

I tried MP3, , flac and WMA. I detected the problem, the sound card is not configured to suit to amarok, I tried to configure it according to suse docs but that didnt workout either. It in fact killed all the other sound engines.

Fixed it by configuring sound card.

Good news…
