It slows the system during splash screen, according to ksysguard loading some 1½ GB. Then crashes.

Now you know my Last.fm username
Yes, I tried multiple times. Yes, I uninstalled and installed again. Looked for a .amarok folder to delete but couldn’t find any. Backtraces are useless KDE says.
I did have last.fm trouble with the ‘packman’ version of AmaroK, I wasn’t able to see which version you were running. AmaroK is fine on my system with AmaroK from -oss repo but I use Gstreamer-phonon not VLC, not sure if that would make any difference though,
Looked for a .amarok folder to delete but couldn’t find any.
That folder is located here: /home/(user)/.kde4/share/apps, and config files here: /home/(user)/.kde4/share/config
Be careful, though, when deleting folders and files.
Thanks a lot for your input! I’ll try things out when I get the time.
Managed to get a backtrace too…

Again: Thank you for commenting and considering the issue.
KDE has set the problem aside, in part because the openSUSE Amarok is an old version (2.6). Last.fm posted an update about them accidentally crashing Xboxes (I think it was) - so they have some kind of problem also.
Guess this is what life is like just before a new release of openSUSE?
Anyway, I decided to try out Banshee some more… and a bit to my surprise it can do pretty much anything Amarok can do!? Perhaps I’ll order a Banshee t-shirt to wear - already have an Amarok t-shirt
Hi, do you know as to how to make banshee remember last playlist position after closing and re-opening. Banshee doesn’t seem to store the last played song between close and start cycle.
Update on Amarok: Upgraded to 12.3, observed Amarok 2.7 crash almost identically to 2.6, uninstalled Amarok and deleted the above mentioned system folders. Using Banshee (which happily playse mp3s despite the upgrade of openSUSE!) for now but will try Amarok later. Hopefully just some user profile / system folder issue.
