Amarok stopped playing MP3 after today's update

Anyone the same issue? I updated today some packages, unfortunatelly I haven’t looked at them, so I don’t know what packages had been updating. But after that Amarok can’t play mp3. According to console log, there is a problem with gstreamer, so I tried reinstall, downgrade and nothing. Amarok shows that can’t play mp3 because of missing gstreamer in phonon, but it had showed up even before update and could play mp3. I can’t figure out how to solve it. Everyting seems to be allright except the warning. So maybe an error in some package?

rpm -qa --last

rpm -q -a --queryformat "%{INSTALLTIME};%{INSTALLTIME:day}; \
%{BUILDTIME:day}; %{NAME};%{VERSION}-%-7{RELEASE};%{arch}; \
%{VENDOR};%{PACKAGER};%{DISTRIBUTION};%{DISTTAG}
" \
| sort | cut --fields="2-" --delimiter=\; \
| tee rpmlist.csv | less -S

or

rpm -q -a --queryformat "%{INSTALLTIME}	%{INSTALLTIME:day} \
%{BUILDTIME:day} %-30{NAME}	%15{VERSION}-%-7{RELEASE}	%{arch} \
%25{VENDOR}%25{PACKAGER} == %{DISTRIBUTION} %{DISTTAG}
" \
| sort | cut --fields="2-" > rpmlist

Thanks. So it was gstreamer-0.10_ffmpeg, that was updated. I tried to reinstall it but no change.

Don’t know how you are doing with AmaroK and .mp3 files, but since that ‘gstreamer-ffmpeg’ update you now have to install ‘gstreamer-fluendo-mp3’ package to have either AmaroK or Clementine to play those files. Whether this is the intended behaviour I don’t know since ffmpeg also produces that codec; hence, the fluendo package shouldn’t be necessary.

I just found the same issue with Clementine. I’ve taken F_Sauces advice and it fixed my issue. Thank you F_Sauce. I am still petty new to the forum and i can’t see a way to add reputation to you where it normally is. I think it must be only a feature the op can use. If the op reads this, i’d appreciate it if you could leave some reputation to F_Sauce.

No need to make any fuss about reputation:)
Nice to hear you made progress with your media-players.

Cheers

I think it’s possible to add reputation even if You’re not the op. Try
clicking in the lower left corner of the post that helped You :slight_smile:

There are 2 icons. 1 is for reputation and the other one is for reporting
spam or posts breaking forum rules. Chose wisely :stuck_out_tongue:
