Amarok & MCP55 High Definition Audio

Ran alsaconf and managed to get YasT test audio - also, internet and system sounds work fine but I cant get any sound from Amarok. Do I just use a different player? Is there a setting in Amarok that I am missing?

Install Amarok from Packman
include Amarok Packman
allow any vendor change

Further to caf4926’s recommendation, to sort this, I recommend you first setup your software package manager’s repositories to make software installation very easy. I specifically recommend you setup your repositories (repos) with 4, and only 4, repositories in your repository list. ie with only OSS, NON-OSS, Update and Packman. Just those 4. No others. Disable any others. (for now, … you can add more when you learn better the implications of adding others). There is guidance on how to do this here: Repositories - openSUSE-Community

Once that is complete, install the packman packaged version of amarok, libxine1, xine-ui, and mad. You may need to remove the Novell/SuSE-GmbH version of xine-lib first (where the Novell/SuSE-GmbH version is specifically crippled for mp3).

Then in amarok select the xine sound engine.

Good luck.
