How do I do this?
Ive searched and read and hunted for the illusive compose key.
Ive tried <CTRL> +<SHIFT> + U
Right <CTRL> +<SHIFT>
But no luck!
I need various chars when writing in Afrikaans!
Please help me!!!

Thanks but there is no Input Devices option. And I have looked and looked and looked but cannot find the compose key position!
I use KDE
If on an older KDE4 version, it may be in “Region/Country”. Take a look around there if you do have that. IIRC there’s a tab “Advanced” where you can set the option described above.
I use OpenSuse 11.3 with KDE4 4.4 which comes standard with the dvd.
In Systemsettings there’s a search field. Type in ‘keyboard’, look for the option ‘Keyboard layout’, check ‘Enable keyboard layouts’, then go ‘Advanced’, check ‘Restore old options’, the list below opens, now check Right-Alt as the compose key. Apply this.
Next, in an editor, or where ever in a text field do this to compose characters:
Right-Alt, [extra to add to character], character
Examples:
Right-Alt, ", a -> ä
Right-Alt, ’ , c -> ç
Right-Alt, =, c -> €
Right-Alt, /, o -> ø
Knorpot for King!
The sequence is as such:
Click the Chameleon
==>System Settings
==>Regional & Language
==>Keyboard Layout
Enable on Enable Keyboard Layouts
Click on the Advanced Tab
Then click on the Compose key and choose the one you like!
