Actually, no.

What I should have said, is that “/tmp” is mounted as an empty “tmpfs” directory at boot.

It is never emptied. It just disappears into the ether on shutdown.

1175301 – PackageKit leaves large number of /var/tmp/zypp.* directories (with keyring).
