All of a sudden no discs recognized

I put an audio cd in yesterday and nothing happened. I started vlc and chose Media > Open Disc > Audio cd > Play and I got "VLC is unable to open the MRL ‘cdda: ///dev/sr0’ ". I opened YaST and chose Media Check and got “Cannot read medium in drive /dev/sr0”. K3b says “there is no medium present”. With K3b I tried blank discs, audio cd, and dvd with the same result.

The last time I played a dvd, everything worked fine. Has something changed in Tumbleweed recently affecting the recognition of discs in /dev/sr0?

Sorry to say, but to me this sounds like a hardware problem.

… that, or the disk is bad. To OP: Did you try the CD in another player after that? Did it work?
