all my Gnome app icons are generic blue gear

I’ll attach a screenshot if i can. Almost all of my application icons in my GNOME menus are the generic diamond executable icon. Expected behavior is Terminal should have a little terminal icon, ‘Files’ should have a file cabinet icon, etc.

How can I fix this?
ok im not able to attach a screenshot, sorry.

You can upload screenshots to paste.opensuse.org. Click Image upper-right. Post the URL of the page (not of the image) using the Globe icon above the post editor.

I can’t change them either, even if i edit the .desktop files and do the update-desktop thing. Ive tried rebuilding the icon cache too. No change.

Hey I fixed it! Turned out to be a problem where Gnome wouldn’t do svg icons.
Some combination of the following fixed it:
reinstall gdk-pixbuf packages and librsvg packages
gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders --update-cache
logout. login.
