Ulf Persson, Chalmers University of Technology, says:
“This is a collection of essays and talks written and delivered by Popper in old Age,
commenting on some of his pet topics. It is strange though, to read him in the early 90s
on political events, which although twenty years in the past, still strike me as very recent.”
And the unfortunate obsession with problem solving continues. In 1981 Sir Charles Vickers wrote ‘The poverty of problem solving’ in which he argued that problem solving doesn’t actually solve anything; it just generates another problem to be solved.
Look for opportunities and improvements rather than problems.

Certainly in England - but I am aware that there are strong cultural influences in the UK which push people towards seeing problem solving as the way forward. So it may not be so prevalent in countries with different cultures.
