Aiming for a unified kernel image for vanilla

Intended to ask this as a follow-up in thread… Signing initrd for more secure booting
But, it auto-closed too soon.

Test drove this and it worked well…
https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Static_Initrd_and_Unified_Kernel_Image

However, that was on kernel-default, which have already switched away from, in favor of kernel-vanilla. Who should be contacted to request modification to the build process to generate a uki-vanilla in addition to the uki-default ?

Bump… anyone?

Ok, didn’t think of it as such, but sounds good.

Thanks

@malcolmlewis Another thing on this, who is the party to contact to hopefully get it added as an option within the tumbleweed installer? So that when installing the os, you can easily implement it right then.

@skosner I believe that’s work in progress, from memory there was a factory Mailing List post about it…

@malcolmlewis bug report is filed.

Thanks

Well hello there, this may well be the openSUSE factory mailing list information malcolmlewis refered to. :< [UKI project] new packages - openSUSE Factory - openSUSE Mailing Lists

Now links one and three do not function.

@panorain Hi. That page does not seem to indicate inclusion within the os installer.
Links one and three fail because they have the trailing ‘>’ as part of the url, so just lop it off and they work. The third is the same intended target as the second anyway.

@malcolmlewis Upon searching, found…
Switch to Unified Kernel Images? - openSUSE Factory - openSUSE Mailing Lists

Is that what you were referring to?

@skosner that was a long time ago :wink: Well it was the link @panorain posted…

@malcolmlewis Ah no kidding. Ok thanks.
