Bonjour,
I am trying a triple boot (XPSP3-Ubuntu8.04-Suse 11) on a new machine based on a Gigabyte EP45-DS3R (ICH10R chipset)and HDD WD 640G sata.
When I installed XP I add the ahci driver (on diskette) with F6.
Right now, with AHCI enabled I am able to launch XP and Ubuntu but I got an error with Suse.
If I disabled AHCI, Suse and XP boot without problem but not Ubuntu…
The error I got with Suse (ahci enabled) is something like that:
could not find /dev/disk/by-id/scsi-sata_WDC_WD6400AAKS_WD-WMASY3140075-part 6
I tried a few things found on different forums (edit /boot/grub/menu.lst and add pci=nomsi or hwprobe=-modules.pata on the “kernel” line of Suse for example)but to no avail.
Since I am quite a newbie in linux world i have a few questions:
Is there any “suse-ahci-driver” I could load? (didn’t find anything related)
How to have a look at the drivers loaded with suse 11? Through yast? How?
last but not least : is it possible to boot Suse11 with ahci enabled (don’t know maybe it’s impossible…)
Thanks
Pierre
