My goal was to run os-prober, but it gave me a warning that multipath devices were present and that the multipathd service was not running.

I see.

I searched for a way to get this service running and that is what I came up with. It did succeed in getting rid of the warning from os-prober.

Don’t try this. Try to get rid of multipath. The easiest way for accomplishing this is to roll back to an older snapshot: dup to 20210708 results in unwanted device mapper
