After upgrade to KDE 4.11 all nepomuk tags are missing

I upgraded from KDE 4.10 to 4.11 (with 12.3) and found that all my nepomuk tags have disappeared from the files I had tagged. the list of previously added tags is still intact, and I cannot add tags to files either. So, in dolphin, right click on a file -> properties -> information -> add tag, I add a previously created tag, click okay and no tag turns up in the dolphin file list (with tag field showing), when I right click again and go to the information tab there is no tag, the tag was not saved. I also cannot create new tags, in the add tag filed I type in a new tag, check it, click okay, but it does not get saved to the file, and it is not in the list of tags if I try to add it again.

I have tried copying my old /.kde4/share/apps/nepomuk/repository/ directory, backed up when still running 4.10, replacing the current directory (with nepomuk disabled, and after logging out and back in). This restored my tags, but I still cannot add old tags to files or create new tags.

Has this happened to anyone else? I would be grateful for any suggestions for getting nepomuk working properly again.

Hi,

“right click on a file -> properties -> information -> add tag” in dolphin appears broken at the moment >:(

If you use the ‘Add Tags…’ from the information panel it works OK - (F11 toggles the Information Panel view).

Keep a copy of your old 4.10 database - there is a ‘migration’ process that should have happened

Take a look at this The Nepomuk Migration in Vishesh Handa’s blog.

When I upgraded I did not get the migration wizard mentioned in link you posted (though I just read in an email on a KDE mailing list https://mail.kde.org/pipermail/nepomuk/2013-May/004357.html that says there won’t be a wizard they’ll just do the migration silently). The migrations seems to have some problems if the stuff being migrated gets lost along the way…

Thanks for the pointer, now I have a better idea of what to try and track down
