on my on my laptop CLEVO L141AU 14inch magnesium running LEAP 15.5 KDE Argon
https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Argon_and_Krypton
with these KDE repositries
https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:KDE_repositories#KDE_Frameworks_5.2C_Plasma_5_and_Applications
and another CLEVO NS50MU 15.6 inch with plain 15.5
I upgraded to 15.6 and KDE plasma result slower than before to start, after login the start screen takes about 40 seconds and before 10 or 20 seconds
is it possible to come back to 20 seconds as before?
Try testing with a new user account. Is the desktop initialization faster when logging in as new user?
Also, take a look at the journal for any clues…
journalctl -b --user -g started
hi deano, manythanks, with a new user is very faster, a couple of seconds
That is good to know, but now you need to compare with the original user configuration and background services.
here is of the user with plain 15.6
which files I have to compare?
The key Plasma config files live in the respective user’s ~/.config/ directory. You could rename ‘plasmarc’ and ‘plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc’ to ‘plasma.old’ and ‘plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc.old’ and test the load time again after that.
It might also be cache related, so you could rename (or remove that) if desired.
For background services run
kcmshell6 kcm_kded
(or via ‘Background Services’ in the menu) and note what is running there (as opposed to the new user).
manythanks dean, I renamed all plasma* files in ~/.config/ directory and all in ~/.cache/ directory and solved
Thanks for the update.
