After updating the system and reboot my nvidia graphics card stop working (can’t use external monitor) and Xorg doesn’t appear at login screen, don’t know what to do, I use OpenSuse in my laptop and plug it to an external monitor and now it doesn’t work anymore… I need help.
Hi and welcome to the Forum
Likely the new kernel and (I’m assuming) your using the NVIDIA rpms from the repository?
If so, might need to wait for them to rebuild/publish with the newer kernel, no issues here installing the drivers the hard way (460.39 and 5.10.12 kernel).
Other option is to just boot to the old kernel for the moment via Grub and advanced boot options.
Hi, so I already have tried to use the old kernel by selecting it into GRUB, the Xorg option appear on the login screen, but even after selecting it the gpu doesn’t appear to work, when I try to open NVIDIA setting it just crashes and external monitor doesn’t work.
I think that openSUSE already update their repos, tried today uninstall and install back the nvidia drivers and it’s working, sorry for boring you… Now I understand what happened thanks.
