After update to Kmail2 in openSUSE 12.1: No read / write permissions for your mail folder. Fatal.

After updating from 11.4 to 12.1 with overall good results, I got a surprising error that was signed “resolved” in 2010…apparently just by downgrading.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=655969
This happened after I did run the migration utility from terminal as normal user (migration interactive). The migration claimed it went well without error. When starting kmail it wanted to remigrate! So I said “jump” the migration.
Now kmail shuts down immediately with “no read/write permission for local folder. Kmail will now close”. And it does.
Any suggestions where the problem might be situated? Do other experience the same? Should the bug be reopened as a regression? All help appreciated,
thank you.

i’m not sure, but maybe you missed the distinction between kmail and
kmail2…the latter is installed in 12.1, and there is already LOTs of
discussion about problems with it…those discussions began back during
pre-release in the beta forum, and it goes on:

Hello. I am fully aware of every change of KDE from 3.5 onward. I am following this closely. The bug you posted is actually another problem than the one I am experiencing. I have currently a migration problem (from version 1 to version 2) in which there is manifesting a permission problem (after having run - following the program with success - the migration script). No what I am searching for is not about the other problems of migration (that do exist) but to try to understand if the permission problem, after having run the migration to the Akonadi resources of Kmail2 has to be reopened as the regression of Access Denied. AFAIK the difference of Kmail1 and Kmail2 is, that the latter uses for the first time the AKONADI framework to store the mail. The migration proves to be difficult and is apparently (at least in 11.4 with KDElastest and 12.1 with the regular packages) quite broken.
I am therefore searching for a solution for the specific problem as of above, while being fully aware that there are already a lot of threads (but not on this error). If you have such solution to share, please feel free to do so. Maybe you want instead to share your expertise about the differences in the code base of the two programs because you feel that will help me to come to a solution for my problem. If this is so, thank you, please feel free to elaborate.
Thank you.
